Fences

All Fences Are Not Created Equal.
Ever wonder why some of the new Fences you’ve seen in your neighborhood don’t appear quite as well built as you would expect?  The most common reason is our area has seen an unreasonably high influx of ‘fly-by-night’, poorly qualified so-called builders arrive to make a fast dollar from unsuspecting Regina Homeowners.

Here at Competitive Edge we have been serving Regina with quality craftsman built Fences for the past Five years.  Throughout our experience we’ve learned how to build professionally designed Fences to best withstand our unique weather conditions.  In fact our designs, better quality materials and improved methods have helped set the very Code standards so many competitors simply can not provide.

The basic ingredients for any good Fence begin with a strong structural design and not just a poorly delivered interpretation.  Next, along with the very best in materials, we provide well trained and properly supervised installers, to execute this important combination of factors.  Just examine the following of differences you’ll likely encounter in anything less than a Competitive Edge Construction Inc. built Fence:

1.

We use only #1 Grade Posts (square cornered) Pressure Treated Pine 4”X4” all set into Hand Dug 4’ Deep Holes, using real Concrete mixed on site from Portland Cement, Pea Gravel and Cement Sand.  Others use less expensive #2 Grade (round cornered) Posts, drop a bag of low-cost Redi-Mix into whatever Posthole they decided to provide and run hose water into the hole to provide the mix.  It just doesn’t work, leaving an inferior Post in a shallow Hole with little and/or no structural support.

2.

Competitive Edge Fence Boards are only attached with a minimum of six Patented Galvanized Screwa specifically designed for this application.  Others use staples, untreated nails that rust and even common screws, which aren’t designed for this purpose. All Fence Boards are absolutely not created equal. Competitive Edge Boards are always 5/8” and ¾” thick only.  They are never the ½” and less seen in many pre-built panel built Fences, which tend to quickly warp losing their structural integrity.  Let’s not forget uniform Board height and spacing, always a strong Competitive Edge standard.  Amateur built Fences continue to feature see-through uneven Board height/spacing, don’t meet important Building Codes and generally look terrible.  Which would you rather have on your property?

3.

Gates are the most continually used components of any fence, new or old. Competitive Edge built Gates begin with a welded galvanized steel frame. They are covered to match with the very same high quality boards the entire fence is built from and hung with strong coated hinges, secured by a long lasting hatchet latch.  Why, because steel framed Gates don’t sag, twist, or deteriorate from long term continuous use. Certainly not like the wood framed, light weight, double hinged examples with single latch closers those ‘other builders’ tend to use.  At Competitive Edge we always upgrade the Hinge Post to a 4”X6” from the 4”X4” Fence Post most commonly seen, again to prevent sag and provide years of safe efficient service.

4.

Five years of Regina experience, a written guarantee and everything you’ve carefully considered so far are one thing, but how about more Fences standing after major wind storms than any other Regina builder? That’s the real Competitive Edge difference.
